Asboobs: Asal Bobo

It’s Balikatan time in Mindanao! And in this military exercise between the US and the Philippines, five rejects–Asal Bobo, or Asboobs, for short–manage to pass through the strict screening process. They are the very careless and absent minded Elmo (Epy Quizon), nerdy computer and electronic whiz Peter (Paolo Contis) and war freak Hogan (Long Mejia).

Elmo is assigned to guard the American T-Rex, a prototype of high-tech computerized assault vehicle. Bored and lonely , Elmo bullies Peter to sneak the T-Rex and drive it to meet up with their girlfriends Mae (Nancy Castiglione) and Judy (Jenny Miller). Elmo and Peter’s misdemeanor reaches their troop leader, Sarge (Eddie Garcia), who immediately rounds up the rest of the misfits to track down the disobedient soldiers.

In their search, Sarge and his group unwittingly enter the territory of the rebels who take them hostage. Sarge escapes the rebel camp and radios for help. The T-Rex pick’s up Sarge SOS. With Peter, Mae, and Judy, the guilt stricken, Elmo hatches a plan to save their friends. What results is a rescue and attack mission of wacky proportions

PASANG KRUS

MARINO

Starring Allen Dizon, Emilio Garcia, Krista Ranillo, Marco Alcaraz, Bangs Garcia, Victor Basa, Mike Tan, Rico Barrera, Jan Nieto & Ara Mina.
Featuring the theme song “Bakit Kailangan Pang Lumayo?” performed by Jan Nieto, composed by Ogie Alcasid

From the high psychological and literary concept of Huling Pasada at last year’s Cinemalaya, writer-director Paul Sta. Ana ventures this time into the mainstream realm, exploring the drama behind OFW’s and their families. Marino is a film that aims to shed light on the sacrifices and triumphs brought about by overseas employment, experienced particularly by seafarers.

Benjo (Allen Dizon) is about to embark on yet another journey as a seafarer, leaving his wife (Ara Mina) and daughter behind.

Life on the ship is set. Professional kinship is developed as common aspirations and perils define life on board. Amidst the call of duty, the rudiments, difficulties and hazards of being a seaman, with his simple and noble acts of heroism are shown. Sea pirates, sunken ships, sexually transmitted diseases, foreign employment are among many issues that beset the job.

KARATE KID'S 2010

KAMOTENG KAHOY

This is based on a true story which happened in a small barrio in Bohol in 2005. 21 pupils died and almost a 100 were hospitalized after eating cassava cakes sold by an old woman, who might have accidentally used pesticide in her ingredients. She has been selling cassava cakes in that school, and has a loving relationship with the children.
The film follows a town from painful trauma towards healing through the undercutting points of view of 2 of the child survivors, and the old woman vendor. The two children survivors, in their own beguiling yet perceptive ways, slowly learn the issue of crime, prejudice and compassion as they develop friendship and accept their loss. The old woman, who is ostracized and condemned by the entire town, even by her own family, finally makes sense of the whole tragic thing and takes matters in her own hand.

Answers don’t come easy, but in the end redemption arrives for every soul in this town in the form of a final climatic event.
